National Trust, Freshfield
Summary Site Description :
Habitats present include mobile and fixed dunes and a large area of coniferous pine plantation. The dune front is eroding at rates between 3 and 5 metres per year. Significant areas of dune were modified by asparagus farming, the effects of recreation pressure and tipping of tobacco waste. Management has taken place to restore areas damaged by recreation pressure.
