Site Name: Hightown Dunes

Summary Site Description : A varied site adjacent to the Alt estuary. Dune habitat types include mobile and fixed dunes with mostly dry slacks. Other habitats present include wet meadow, saltmarsh and a smalll area of brick rubble acting as vegetated shingle. Recent housing has made significant encroachments on the former dune area. Alt Centre present at northern end of site.

Car Park : Hall Road - suitable for coaches. Small car park at Alt Centre, Lower Alt Road, Hightown (unsuitable for coaches).

Site Access : Mostly wild dunes - informal sandy paths. Main route through north south of site is wide and surfaced.
Public Transport : Nearest railway stations are Hall Road and Hightown - both are 15 minutes walk to the site.
Other:Site Ranger and Education Ranger available on enquiry. Booking required for educational visits and proof of insurance. Alt Centre Lower Alt Road, Hightown acts as a Ranger base and basic classroom with toilets.
