Site Name: Ainsdale Sandhills Local Nature Reserve

Summary Site Description : One of the largest areas of dunes on the Sefton Coast and probably the most valuable site for nature conservation together with Ainsdale Sand Dunes National Nature Reserve. The site demonstrates almost textbook examples of most stages of sand dune succession, with particularly god examples of dune slack succession. A visitor centre is under development at Shore Road (2000). Adjacent to a wide beach with managed car parking.

Car Park : Beach car parking via Ainsdale, Shore Road. Not suitable for coaches. Small number of car parking spaces at the visitor centre.
Car Park Charges : Yes (seasonal) for beach car parking. Free parking at the visitor centre
Toilets : Seasonal - at Ainsdale, Shore Road beach entrance.
Site Access : Wild dunes and sandy informal footpaths. Some marked trails - Dune Trail, Dune Path North.
Public Transport : Nearest railway station is Ainsdale - 20 to 30 minutes walk to the main dune area.
Other: Site Ranger and Education Ranger available on enquiry. Booking required for educational visits and proof of insurance.
