English Nature is the statutory body which achieves, enables and promotes nature conservation in England.
The Sefton Coast Management Scheme was a
voluntary , working partnership of landowners, government agencies
and organisations representing nature conservation, sport and recreation
and tourism. It co-ordinates management of the dune coast between
the Mersey and Ribble estuaries in north west England, and is led
by Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council. The Sefton Coast Management
Scheme is now the Sefton Coast Partnership.
The Sefton Coast Life Project (1995 - 1999) supported nature conservation in and around the Sefton Coast candidate Special Area of Conservation area. It was a partnership between Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council, English Nature and the National Trust. The project was co-financed by the European Commission through the Life-Nature fund.
Liverpool Hope University College is
an ecumenical higher education institution educating the whole person
in mind, body and spirit. It is working with the Sefton Coast Partnership
to implement the Sands of Time project.
The project is co-ordinated at Liverpool Hope University
College by Sally Edmondson and Paul Rooney of the Coastal Dune Research
and Advisory Centre.
The Sands of Time Project is supported by the National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside and the Merseyside Regionally Important Geological / geomorphological Group.
