The objective of the Sefton Coast Sands of Time project is:

to promote a greater understanding of the importance of natural processes in the conservation of soft coasts amongst local communities and visitors, and to disseminate the results of the project.

- increases public awareness of conservation management of the dune coast and the rationale behind it
- assists a greater acceptance of the benefits of working with nature
- informs a consensus that all interests can accept
- reassures local people of the Sefton Coast that lives and property are not put at any greater risk

The Sands of Time web site is one part of the project on the Sefton Coast which includes the publication of a popular book, research into people's knowledge and attitudes to the dune coast and the delivery of education and interpretative materials.
